IMPACT OF COVID ON ENVIRONMENT
BY – MANSI SHARMA
Covid-19 has severely affected the travelling sectors all through the globe . As a result of pandemic , many countires have put the country people in quarantines , lockdowns and imposed ban on international and even domestic travel . Many tourist attractions around the world , such as museums , amusement parks and sports venues , are closed .
All this led to pollution levels decreasing significantly , as toxic gas emissions were put to a stop . Some people see it as a godsend for the intoxicated environment . Rising temperatures , glaciers melting everything was happening so fast . But all this has slightly changed after lockdown.
AIR QUALITY –
Since travelling was banned , industries were shut and trains and flights were cancelled , the quality of air improved significantly . There was a definite drop in nitrous oxide.
WATER QUALITY –
Due to reduced water pollution and no boats in sight , the water in rivers , lakes and other water bodies has become clearer . Even the Holy river Ganga which has been polluted since the industrialisation began , saw improved water quality .
Fish and other sea animals could be easily seen .
WILDLIFE –
Animals everywhere were spotted moving around in the seemingly deserted areas. They got their freedom for some time . The biomass in general whether lan d or water flourished under such viable conditions.
